Access Control and Turnstiles from Modular Security Systems Inc.

Modular Access Control, Modular Security Systems, MSSI, Turnstile, Turnstiles, access control

From the beginning of time through today, there has been and will continue to be a need to limit accessibility to some places for some people. Since the 1960s, access control technology has been utilized to add or restrict entrances and to track people coming and going, and to do so in a wide range of manners. In the not-so-prehistoric early days of access control technology, a simple keypad was used to restrict certain areas. Shortly thereafter, RFID or simple magnetic swipe cards came into use.

In order to meet the needs of modern day access control and perimeter security access control, technology has evolved into tools that allow you to create many layers of protection that can adapt to any security concerns – whether you are at a bank, a military base, or a major industrial or commercial construction site. That evolution and the ever-changing security concerns give reason as to why access control technology today has been developed to allow security professionals to update and maintain their chosen security solution(s) with just a few clicks on a keyboard or with a mouse.

Using biometric access control hardware that ties into access control software, security pros can keep all of their security solutions up to date, management can revise access control lists, times and attendance for payroll purposes, and grant a wide range of authorization levels for individuals quickly and easily – within just a few seconds.

The access control technologies that involve biometric parameters don't require someone to keep track of a card, badge or PIN number. By scanning someone’s fingerprint, hand, the veins in their hand, their eyes, or even their face using facial recognition devices, the access control technologies available use identifiers that can't easily be lost or left on the kitchen counter at the house.

These access control technologies and software solutions can perform tasks above and beyond simply granting access of an individual into a room. They can also help track an individual’s history of activity, create alerts if a door or gate is left open, and in the case of an emergency such as a fire, unlock to allow escape.

Not only does today's access control technology give you peace of mind knowing the harvest won't be raided by the next village over, but it's also friendly to your pocketbook and can help save security-minded folks a lot of time and money. Unlike more traditional modes of perimeter security, modern day access control technologies can not only prevent theft, but can also help track employees for time and attendance – and can be installed at a fraction of the cost of building a 10’ perimeter wall of concrete block. Access control technologies today are so easy to update and maintain that they can give customers a fantastic return on their investment.

Modular Security Systems Inc.(MSSI) is at the forefront of portable perimeter security solutions using a wide range of access control technology and shipping container modifications. For more information on MSSI and all of our access control options, CONTACT US HERE or call at 740.532.7822.

Easy-to-Install Turnstiles from Modular Security Systems Inc.

At MSSI we know that the security of your commercial construction sites is a battle on two fronts, the first being outside the fence line and the second at the gates where your authorized personnel can enter with ease while keeping unauthorized individuals off of the construction site. Almost $1 billion is lost on construction projects around the US every year to equipment, tools, and stolen time. Any commercial construction manager knows that equipment, material, and tool theft accounts for lost revenue every year.

A well-thought-out and planned commercial construction perimeter security solution can serve as a valuable line of defense against many different construction project concerns.

The patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal is an easy-to-install prefabricated, climate-controlled guardhouse with turnstiles and access control, and it’s making a big impact. During the past five or six decades, the prefabricated buildings have been used as guard booths and guardhouses on commercial construction sites around the world. Though the guardhouse isn’t a new concept, the containerized MAC Portal with access control and turnstiles is a new invention and is becoming commonplace on many construction projects.

Let MSSI and our staff of portable perimeter security specialists find the right easy-to-install turnstiles solution for your next construction project.

Cost-Effective Turnstiles Delivered Quickly to Your Construction Site

At Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) we understand that not everyone everywhere sees or uses a turnstile on a daily basis, but turnstiles are becoming a part of everyday life for many. Whether it's in subways, amusement parks, sporting events, concerts, or construction projects at power plants and major commercial construction projects, turnstiles and access control solutions to track users are becoming more and more popular.

In today's security-concerned world, turnstiles are used for a wide array of security functions. In this week’s edition of the Turnstile Blog we are going to take a look at when, where, and why turnstiles are needed in a wide range of locations for a number of reasons. Not only are we going to address these needs but we're also going to offer a cost-effective, rapidly deployable solution for those security-minded individuals among us.

When do I need a turnstile?

Turnstiles are needed when some sort of perimeter security is required, such as when you're trying to control traffic into or out of a location or event, or when potential risks of intrusion are inherent.

Where do I need a turnstile?

Turnstiles are often needed at major sporting events, concerts, outdoor festivals, military installations, and major industrial and commercial construction projects, as well as at power generation facilities like nuclear power plants, refineries, and petrochemical facilities.

Why do I need a turnstile?

Turnstiles are most often utilized for two reasons: safety and security. By integrating a turnstile solution into your perimeter security you can keep it secure and safe from the intrusion of unwanted individuals. Did you know that turnstiles can also help you save money? Turnstiles may also be used in combination with access control technology to help track employees’ time for payroll purposes, which helps prevent time theft and/or buddy punching.

How do I find a cost effective quickly deployable turnstile?

That's simple. The best, most cost effective turnstile on the market can be found in the patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal. The versatility of the patented MAC Portal allows companies to meet site-specific security requirements by combining cost-effective turnstile installations with access control technology, and has earned the respect of a wide range of construction and security companies across the U.S. and around the world. Patented MAC Portals are delivered turnkey, so onsite installation can be completed quickly with little-to-no onsite work needed prior to its arrival. The portable perimeter security solutions we deliver can easily be offloaded, hooked to power, and integrated into an existing access control infrastructure within a short amount of time.

We would love to work with you to provide a turnstile security solution for you and your specific needs. MSSI Introduces the MAC-Lite for Commercial Construction Projects

MSSI Introduces the MAC-Lite for Commercial Construction Projects

Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) recently completed construction on a new line of patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals for the commercial construction industry. We're calling these new perimeter security solutions the MAC-Lite. MAC-Lite Portals have been specifically designed to provide the same level of perimeter security as our standard MAC Portals but at a significantly reduced price.

At MSSI we know that many commercial construction projects are under strict budget constraints and often can't justify the price of a standard MAC Portal. With that knowledge, our engineering and design team has come up with this new simplified version of the MAC Portal. Excluding roll up doors, exterior/interior lighting, and replacing the standard steel walls with aluminum panels makes these patented MAC Portals much more affordable for customers in the commercial construction industry.

While perimeter security on commercial construction sites is often limited to a fence, a robust physical security plan with turnstile access points for employees can dramatically improve the overall success of a construction project. If you are involved in planning a major commercial construction project, the work force, tools, and building equipment are likely consume much of your construction budget. However, a relatively small investment in perimeter security can provide significant protection to a project’s assets and reduce costs associated with loss of time, time theft, and insurance claims.

Proper commercial construction perimeter security solutions can serve as a valuable line of defense against many different construction project concerns. This new line of MAC-Lite patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals can save any commercial construction project time an money over the life of the turnstile product.

We currently offer two MAC-Lite models, built with either 1 or 2 turnstile lanes.

A Variety of Turnstiles are Available in your Patented MAC Portal

In 2004 MSSI invented and applied for a patent for the MAC Portal. The MAC Portal is now patented in the U.S., Canada, and over 30 countries in the European Union.

Some of the largest industrial and commercial construction companies around the world rely on a variety of perimeter security products provided by Modular Security Systems, Inc. (MSSI), which include our patented ISO shipping container modifications with turnstiles. The versatility of the patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal allows companies to meet site-specific security requirements by combining our patented products with access control technology, and has earned the respect of a wide range of construction and security companies across the U.S. and around the world.

Typically, standard MAC Portals are built using full-height, high-security turnstiles provided by Alvarado or Boon Edam, but MSSI has historically been open to customer recommendations/requests for other turnstile brands. By partnering with different turnstile vendors such as Controlled Access, Philips Burle Turnstiles, Tomsed Turnstiles, Boon Edam, and Alvarado, MSSI has been able to stay competitive and offer a wider range of products to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.

“The ability to meet the customer’s site-specific security needs by making them part of the design process is what, I feel, sets us apart from the competition,” stated Kevin Harrison, MSSI Senior Sales Representative.
