The Importance of Vehicle Gates in Perimeter Security for Construction Sites
There is an ever-growing importance for vehicle gates in perimeter security on commercial and industrial construction sites around the world. Vehicle security gates are a fundamental component of perimeter security where access to facilities needs to be restricted. The purpose of vehicle gates is to ensure that access to specified areas is limited to authorized personnel and their vehicles only. In a broad majority of applicable locations, industrial-grade vehicle gates are placed at the entrance and access is granted only to authorized individuals’ vehicles – such as vehicles of management, preferred vendors, and workers.
Depending on the size or range of any given secure facility, there may also be secondary vehicle security gates inside the perimeter to further restrict access to other, more secure areas.
Vehicle gates are common at secure facilities. Security gates are used in a wide range of industries from defense contracting, military, government installations, airports, ports, and commercial facilities. On any premises where access must be regulated beyond a certain point, the presence of a vehicle gate ensures that only authorized vehicles and people are allowed inside.
Automatic vehicle security gates are also used in certain residential settings, including the entrances of apartment complexes and private gated communities.
The use of vehicle gates have increased over the last few decades as security-minded individuals have come to realize the importance of not only restricting foot traffic, but also restricting the traffic of individuals in vehicles.
