Modular Security Systems Inc. and the Patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal have been through a number of changes over the years. As the products offered by MSSI have evolved over time the floor plans have been modified, materials have been updated, and custom options have been added. Creating portable perimeter security solutions for major industrial and commercial construction companies and projects around the world MSSI has had to learn to be flexible with the design and exterior finishings. "Not everyone wants a blue MAC Portal," said David Johnson, MSSI Business Development, "so we have to be able to work with them, to be flexible, to meet their site specific needs."
Much like custom MAC Portals of the past the design, turnstiles, and access control technology in the Patented MAC Portals in this weeks Turnstile Blog post have been built to meet customer and site specific requirements. Custom Options for MAC Portals have often included everything from custom floor plans, heated floor systems, ADA gates, awnings, ballistic grade windows, and even half height turnstiles but occasionally customers want their Patented MAC Portal to come in a different color or to have the exterior covered with a fiber cement facade.
In addition MSSI can build MAC Portals to meet the site specific requirements of customers in areas of the world with both extreme cold and hot climates. By using spray-in foam insulation under the floor of the guardhouse, additional insulation in the walls and ceiling of the guardhouse, baseboard heater in the guardhouse, thermostatically controlled heaters in the top channels of the turnstiles for cold climates MSSI has been able to send functional, access control turnstiles to Northern Canada and Iceland.
By using heat reflective paint on the exterior of units, and relocating solid state components in the top channel of the turnstile to the guardhouse for extreme heat protection MSSI also has sent units to the desert like climates in the U.S. and abroad.
