Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) is nearing completion on the construction of five custom guard houses for the Port of Los Angeles. Having established contacts with the Port of L.A. at last years Port Security conference in Tampa, Florida MSSI representatives worked to provide portable perimeter security products specifically designed for their location. The Port of L.A. is known around the world as quite possibly the busiest container port in the United States. The port is located on 7,500 acres of land along a 43 mile stretch of the coast of San Pedro Bay and employees 16,000. The port like any other major shipping and receiving hub along the coasts of the United States is a top priority security concern for both security professionals onsite as well as Homeland Security and other federal agencies.
With a number of aging guard houses at the location a need for updated facilities was determined to be conducive to improved security and perimeter control. In response to specific onsite locations where guard houses were needed MSSI sales representatives worked directly with officials onsite to design these custom, portable guard houses. Each of these custom designed units have a 360 degree view with windows on all four sides, are climate controlled, and insulated. Working with site specific size constraints MSSI designed these units to be placed in the same location as aging guard booths currently located along the perimeter of the port.
MSSI has been in operation since 2004. Working directly with security professionals, access control, and turnstile manufactures MSSI has been able to design portable perimeter security solutions for some of the largest industrial and commercial construction projects in the U.S. and abroad.
