Since its' inception Patented MAC Portals have been built using high security full height turnstiles provided by a number of turnstile manufacturers in the U.S. and Canada. Working directly with its' customers MSSI has used turnstiles offered by Boon Edam, Alvarado, and Controlled Access Turnstiles to design the site specific security products they require to get their jobs done in a secure environment. According to Kevin Harrison, MSSI Vice President of Sales, “It just comes down to listening to the customer. They know what they need because they are onsite every day and they know what the job, whether it's industrial or commercial construction, requires. We have a very educated customer base when it comes to security and experience in the field. More often than not they already have site specific needs and have an idea of the type of turnstiles and access control they want in their MAC Portal. When a customer comes to us looking for a specific type of high security turnstile it's just a matter of building the MAC to meet their needs”, commented Mr. Harrison.
By partnering with different high security turnstile vendors such as Boon Edam, Alvarado, and Controlled Access Turnstiles, MSSI is able to stay competitive and offer a wider range of products for its' customers. “Making customers part of the design process is what helps them take some ownership in their portable perimeter security solution and I feel that is what sets us apart from the competition”, added Mr. Harrison. “By taking their specifications in mind, implementing them into the design process we give the customer a feeling of ownership in the product, and make the entire sales process as simple as possible from design to installation."
More recently MSSI has begun to maintain perimeter security for not only foot traffic but also vehicles. Over the last year or so MSSI has built a dozen portable vehicle barrier gates with and without guard offices.
By listening to the needs of its' customer MSSI has recently rolled out and started the patent process on the Vehicle Access Control (VAC) Portal.
The VAC much like the Patented MAC Portal begins its' life as a standard ISO shipping container, made of 16 gauge COR-TEN weathering steel, built to hold sixty-seven thousand pounds and be stacked nine containers high. These containers aren’t built specifically for MSSI; they’re built to be packed full of computers, DVD players, and whatever else is being imported to the U.S. After being unloaded of its goods, the containers are usually stacked in a port and left unused because it is cheaper for exporters to build new containers as opposed to having empty ones shipped back.
By installing industry tested vehicle barrier arms with the portability of custom designed steel bases and ISO shipping containers MSSI has come up with yet another portable perimeter security solution worthy of recognition by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office. The first VAC Portal built had an 8' x 10' office with two vehicle barrier arms. Since building it the VAC Portal has seen a number of changes to adapt to the varying needs of specific locations and customers. From VAC Portals without a guard office to units with 6', 10', 20', and 40' offices as well as any number of vehicle barrier arms, the these units can be built to meet site specific requirements just like the Patented MAC Portal.
