Modular Security Systems Incorporated (MSSI), is leading the way to a more secure world, one or two turnstiles at a time. The latest invention to enter the MSSI product line is the portable Vehicle Access Control (VAC) Portal and the modular guard booths. After receiving an official patent in the United States and Canada for the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal that restricts the flow of "foot traffic" to a site the next step for the MSSI design team was to come up with a deliverable system for vehicle access as well. The VAC Portal much like the MAC Portal begins life as a standard ISO shipping container, made of 16 gauge COR-TEN weathering steel, built to hold sixty-seven thousand pounds and be stacked nine containers high. But these containers aren’t built specifically for MSSI; they’re built to be packed full of TVs, Blu-Ray players, or whatever else is being shipped to the US. After being unloaded of its goods, the containers are usually stacked in a port and left unused as it is cheaper to simply build new containers as opposed to sending empty ones back around the world.
MSSI’s business is built on reusing these shipping containers to manufacture the MAC Portal, VAC Portal, and other perimeter security products. MSSI takes the container, cut holes in it, installs full-height turnstiles, motion sensors and state-of-the-art client-specified biometric access control technology systems. With the invention of the MAC Portal, the box nobody wanted is transformed into a high-tech gateway that is also capable of generating mustering reports, tracking worker time, preventing tool theft and even issuing payroll records. The Patented MAC Portal installs quickly and easily, and because its shape is a standard container size, MSSI can get the MAC Portal anywhere a semi-truck or a cargo ship can go. It’s a fence-line ready guardhouse that is far more cost-effective than a traditional “stick-built” structure.
