Modular Security Systems Inc. is more than pleased to announce that as of July 27, 2010 the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal has been Patented through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Over the past couple of years Modular Security Systems Inc. has reported on the various stages of the patent process and we are excited to announce that the Official Patent (Patent No. US 7,762,025) has been received at MSSI headquarters and will soon be framed for display in recognition of the occasion.
MSSI Co-Owner, David Slagel stated, "I'd like to reiterate what I've said in the past and that is that we want to ensure our past and future customers that this patent will not impact our product pricing, product quality, or customer service. We have and will continue to be the low cost solution by providing portable containerized turnstile security systems using both full height and half height turnstiles."

As previously reported the patent for the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal is not turnstile type specific and does not require MSSI to incorporate only full-height turnstiles into its modular guardhouse but rather any type of a barrier device including half-height turnstiles and other types of barrier devices. MSSI would like to use its patent to enable it to team up with distributors interested in providing these containerized portable guard shacks with access control turnstiles in a cross marketing effort of the MAC security portal.

This week in Columbus, Ohio hundreds of AEP employees, vendors, and guest utility representatives gathered for the AEP BRO Forum to share cutting edge industry knowledge and technology. A Vendor Expo of over 150 vendor booths and breakout conference sessions provided an informational venue for an abundance of boiler experts and subject matter. According to AEP representatives at the show, this year's event included even more networking and information sharing opportunities than in the past.
Modular Security Systems Inc. was at the AEP BRO Forum in Columbus to represent it's wide array of custom container modifications including the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal, the V-Series MAC Portal, and the Guard Shack. Having worked on numerous AEP locations around the country including the John Amos Power Plant, the Conesville Power Plant, the Kyger Creek Power Plant, and the JW Turk Power plant MSSI felt right at home at the show.
A number of AEP field and office representatives stopped by the booth after recognizing MSSI products that they'd seen on site at power plants across the country. Over the years MSSI has made it's presence known within the AEP system. "We've done a pretty good amount of business with AEP and AEP site accross the country and the BRO Forum just makes sense for us to attend. It was a great opportunity to meet with old friends and customers within AEP and I'm sure we'll be back again next year", stated President/Owner of MSSI. Rob Slagel.

Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) has, based on customer demand, began construction on new V-Series Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals. In preparation to modify these portable guardhouses with access control turnstiles these 45' high cube shipping containers have been cut and are being prepared to be pulled together. As with all Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals these portable guard shacks with full height turnstiles are built out of 16 gauge corten steel ISO shipping containers as their backbone. Once they are cut to the appropriate dimensions these units will be fully insulated with customer specified flooring, wall finishings, over head lighting, access control technology and high security turnstiles.
Unlike most V-Series MAC Portals this modular guard shack with access control turnstiles will be delivered without an exterior facade. The customer, having purchased standard Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals in the past, chose to stick with the blue painted exterior as opposed to having the fiber cement facade installed. Once completed this guard office with full height security turnstiles will be loaded and shipped for on site installation, saving the customer a significant amount of time and money as compared to traditional stick built structures.

MSSI since its inception has been committed to meeting the site specific needs of its customers and has yet to say no to a new idea or need. One example of that is seen here in this modified MAC-2. This is a Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal with two full height security turnstiles and has been modified by installing a liftmaster vehicle barrier. This modular guardhouse with turnstiles is delivered fence-line ready and can be built, delivered, and installed in a fraction of the time it takes a similar stick-built structure to be constructed.
Once on site this unit regulates the entry of employees and visitors to the site through access control technology and full height turnstiles. As seen above the 2 full height security turnstiles on the entry and exit sides of the MAC-2 have been installed and integrated with access control technology to manage foot traffic on to the site. Based on the needs of the site this MAC Portal has also been setup to regulate vehicle access to the site through the use of the liftmaster road barrier.

Modular Security Systems Inc (MSSI) recently shipped another Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal with 4 full height turnstiles and access control. This portable guardhouse with access control turnstiles was sent to a major construction project in the U.S. where the site perimeter required access control entry and egress for employees and visitors. Like most MAC Portals this unit was setup with proxemity cards that identify employees, allow them access to the site, and track their time on site for payroll purposes.
One major benefit of having a MAC Portal delivered to your site is the lead time on these units. What would take a construction crew, engineers, contractors and months of planning and permiting to accomplish can be manufactured and delivered to your site in a matter of weeks. Built fully integrated with any type of site specified access control technology these portable guardhouses with turnstiles offer the perfect solution for both temporary and permanent installations.

The video is an overview of Modular Security Systems Inc. and features interviews with Kevin Harrison, Vice President of Modular Security Systems Inc. "Many major industrial construction sites, power plants, refineries and nuclear facilities around the globe have already benefited from having a MAC Portal on site and we think this video will be useful for security and safety managers who haven't heard of the MAC", said Kevin Harrison.
"Many times we'll be at a trade show and attendees will come by our both amazed that they have never seen or heard of putting full-height turnstiles in a shipping container as an access control solution. We're always looking for ways to reach new customers that might be in need of a MAC as either a permanent or temporary solution and we're glad we now have a high quality video that shows off some of our capabilities", added David Slagel, MSSI Co-President.

Yesterday the first 3 shipping containers of a massive 15 box Advanced Screening Complex (ASC), modified with full height turnstiles, were loaded and sent west towards Arizona. Today 3 more turnstile container modification from the ASC will be disassembled and loaded for shipment. As is standard for all mult-container modifications the individual modules will be pulled apart and covered with a protective wrap and tarps to maintain the units as they are trucked across the U.S.

As the individual Modular Access Control (MAC) modules arrive onsite they will be reassembled and integrated with a number of detection devises for security screening purposes. The ASC, once assembled, will have baggage scanning capabilities with x-ray, metal, and bomb detection, as well as, hand geometry readers, and access card readers. Much like security checkpoints at major airports around the world, the completed ASC will offer a high security entrance significantly cheaper than a traditional stick built structure.
