For Modular Security Systems Inc. perimeter security solutions are evolving and to meet the demands of the changing needs of its customers, MSSI introduced a new line of Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal in 2010. What has come to be known as the V-Series is a combination of three ISO shipping containers joined together to create vestibules for both the secure and non-secure sides of a standard MAC Portal. With the needs of its customers in mind Modular Security Systems Inc. has continued to grow its already impressive list of perimeter security solutions. Since the introduction of the first 4 turnstile MAC Portal in 2004
Modular Security Systems has developed a standard line of Modular Access Control Portals ranging from 1 to 10 turnstile units, the Vehicle Access Control (VAC) Portal, and the V-Series MAC Portal.
The V-Series Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal pictured above is currently under construction for another nuclear power plant in the United States. More than 15 nuclear power plants already have V-Series MAC Portals on site regulating access to their facilities. Much like the locations before high levels of security and access control are required to
assure the safety of employees and the surrounding community. By adding vestibules to either side of a standard MAC Portal with turnstiles and access control MSSI has created a climate-controlled, perimeter security solution that can be installed as both a permanent perimeter security solution.
The V-Series MAC Portal is just the next step in the evolution of the Modular Security Systems product line and it surely wont be the last. As the needs of our customers change so must our products.

MSSI has recently began construction on a new 3 shipping container and turnstile modification to be delivered to a nuclear facility in the United States. This V-Series MAC Portal will soon have six full height, high security turnstiles and access control technology installed in its' center shipping container. As you can see from the picture above this unit has also been fitted with an exterior, fiber cement facade that is intended to match existing structures where the unit is to be delivered.
Like all Patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals these V-Series MAC Portals are manufactured in Worthington, Ky and are built to minimize construction costs for the sites where they are put into use. By utilizing state of the art ISO shipping container modification techniques and technology MSSI has saved hundreds of customers significant amounts of time and money that would otherwise be tied up in construction, permitting, and labor costs.

Modular Security Systems Inc. recently completed the installation of a new V-Series Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal on site at Braidwood Nuclear Generation Station in Illinois. This V-Series MAC Portal was put into place to meet Nuclear Regulatory Commision (NRC) regulations meant to increase the isolation area between the perimeter of the plant and it's infrastructure.

This climate controlled guard shack with turnstiles comes complete with 8 full height, high security turnstiles, a guard office, and vestibules on both the secured and non-secure sides. Entrance to the site is regulated through the use of access control technology and the turnstiles installed in the V-Series MAC Portal.

In addition to the V-Series MAC Portal the site also ordered this modular guard shack without turnstiles that is used as a guard office for security specialist to work and monitor vehicles as they enter the site. Both units were fitted with an exterior facade and are climate controlled through the use of insulation and HVAC units.
MSSI is proud of these installations and are in the process of updating photo documentation of the number of V-Series Installations, like this one, around the country.

Over the last year and a half Modular Security Systems Inc. has seen an immense amount of interest in its V-Series Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal. With over ten V-Series MAC Portals sold this year alone the benefits of these modular guard houses with turnstiles is more than evident. "We're glad that we can offer our customers a high security, modular solution for access control to their sites and we're excited about the future of the product", stated Kevin Harrison, Vice President of MSSI. "The number of orders we've received just goes to show how highly beneficial the V-Series can be."

The V-Series MAC Portal pictured here is closed to being complete and is scheduled to ship within the next few weeks. This modular guard office with turnstiles has 4 full height high security turnstile lanes and an office for guards that will be able to monitor individuals entering and exiting their site.

Like all V-Series MAC Portals this one is fully insulated and will be integrated with the customer specified access control technology. It will also be fitted with an exterior facade meant to give the unit a permanent-structure-appearance and to match existing buildings currently on site at the customers location.

MSSI recently began construction on a new V-Series MAC Portal that will be tied into an existing security facility in the North Eastern US. Above is an artist rendering of what the unit will look like once installed on site. It will have six full height turnstile lanes consisting of 3 tandem turnstiles as well as an ADA gate to meet site specifications. This custom unit consists of two 45' high cube ISO shipping containers and will be fitted with a roof structure once delivered to the site.

To begin the construction of this custom V-Series MAC Portal the walls of both of the containers were removed and the roof of one was cut out to meet the customers design requirements. Once the walls and top of the shipping containers were removed the unit was reinforced with steel C Channel beams for support.

As you can see from the photos this unit is in the beginning stages of construction. Once completed it will have insulation throughout, finished wall and floor treatments, electrical conduit, HVAC, an exterior facade and all the access control security required to maintain the safety and security of the site.

Check back as our Blog will be updated as this project continues.

This week in Columbus, Ohio hundreds of AEP employees, vendors, and guest utility representatives gathered for the AEP BRO Forum to share cutting edge industry knowledge and technology. A Vendor Expo of over 150 vendor booths and breakout conference sessions provided an informational venue for an abundance of boiler experts and subject matter. According to AEP representatives at the show, this year's event included even more networking and information sharing opportunities than in the past.
Modular Security Systems Inc. was at the AEP BRO Forum in Columbus to represent it's wide array of custom container modifications including the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal, the V-Series MAC Portal, and the Guard Shack. Having worked on numerous AEP locations around the country including the John Amos Power Plant, the Conesville Power Plant, the Kyger Creek Power Plant, and the JW Turk Power plant MSSI felt right at home at the show.
A number of AEP field and office representatives stopped by the booth after recognizing MSSI products that they'd seen on site at power plants across the country. Over the years MSSI has made it's presence known within the AEP system. "We've done a pretty good amount of business with AEP and AEP site accross the country and the BRO Forum just makes sense for us to attend. It was a great opportunity to meet with old friends and customers within AEP and I'm sure we'll be back again next year", stated President/Owner of MSSI. Rob Slagel.

Modular Security Systems Inc. prepares another high security turnstile and shipping container combination, the V-Series MAC Portal, for shipment. This new unit will be shipped, per the customers request, with the standard MSSI blue paint and SecuredbyMAC.com signage. Although the majority of V-Series MAC Portals have been fitted with an exterior facade this modular, full height turnstile security unit was ordered to look similar, not to existing structures on site, but to match the other MAC Portals the customer already has on location.
Having provided standard Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals to the customer in the past MSSI had developed a good working relationship when it came to design and implementation of their MAC. This time the customer wanted a larger structure at the main entrance to their facility that would match up to standard MAC Portals located at smaller additional entrances to the site. Like all V-Series MAC Portals this unit comes complete with entrance and exit vestibules, a guard office, and full height high security turnstiles integrated with access control technology.

Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) has, based on customer demand, began construction on new V-Series Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals. In preparation to modify these portable guardhouses with access control turnstiles these 45' high cube shipping containers have been cut and are being prepared to be pulled together. As with all Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals these portable guard shacks with full height turnstiles are built out of 16 gauge corten steel ISO shipping containers as their backbone. Once they are cut to the appropriate dimensions these units will be fully insulated with customer specified flooring, wall finishings, over head lighting, access control technology and high security turnstiles.
Unlike most V-Series MAC Portals this modular guard shack with access control turnstiles will be delivered without an exterior facade. The customer, having purchased standard Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals in the past, chose to stick with the blue painted exterior as opposed to having the fiber cement facade installed. Once completed this guard office with full height security turnstiles will be loaded and shipped for on site installation, saving the customer a significant amount of time and money as compared to traditional stick built structures.

MSSI since its inception has been committed to meeting the site specific needs of its customers and has yet to say no to a new idea or need. One example of that is seen here in this modified MAC-2. This is a Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal with two full height security turnstiles and has been modified by installing a liftmaster vehicle barrier. This modular guardhouse with turnstiles is delivered fence-line ready and can be built, delivered, and installed in a fraction of the time it takes a similar stick-built structure to be constructed.
Once on site this unit regulates the entry of employees and visitors to the site through access control technology and full height turnstiles. As seen above the 2 full height security turnstiles on the entry and exit sides of the MAC-2 have been installed and integrated with access control technology to manage foot traffic on to the site. Based on the needs of the site this MAC Portal has also been setup to regulate vehicle access to the site through the use of the liftmaster road barrier.
