 Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) just completed this new Patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal with six full height, high security turnstiles, and access control technology. In 2004 MSSI developed, engineered, and invented the now Patented Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal. A modern day "time alley" or "brass alley" MAC Portals with full height turnstiles have saved a number of MSSI customers significant amounts of time and money on projects in the U.S. and abroad. The MAC Portal was created by incorporating full height turnstiles and access control technology into an ISO shipping container (also known as sea cans, conex boxes, and milvans). By building MAC Portals out of shipping containers MSSI has developed a product that is mobile and can be used at numerous locations throughout the life of the unit.

Thanks to MSSI and the Patented MAC Portal, the construction industry is quickly moving into the 21st century with regard to how the industry addresses time and attendance as well as access control on jobsites.

Using what was known by many as "Brass Alleys" employees were administered coins with unique employee numbers for each employee. Every morning before the beginning of the shift the employee would pass through the Brass Alley turning in his/her coin to essentially "clock in" for the day.   

Given modern advancements in technology and equipment access control and time keeping has become a bit less rudimentary in comparison to earlier methods. 

Utilizing biometric access control technologies like hand geometry readers, Iris eye scanning detection, and access card readers MSSI has been able to provide customers with full height turnstiles that both secure their location as well as provide time-keeping capabilities for payroll purposes.

Occassionally we'll get calls from prospective customers who understand the concept of using turnstiles as access control barriers on subways and for major sporting events, but have little experience seeing them in use in other more industrial locations. Once an understanding of the amount of time and money saved by implementing full height turnstiles and access control onto a job site is reached the proverbial light bulb comes on. Using a turnstile flow calculator that has been created to determine the number of turnstile lanes needed to accommodate any number of workers and shift change parameters MSSI has designed MAC Portals with as few a one turnstile lane up to ten turnstile lanes in a single unit.

MSSI: MAC Portals with Half Height Turnstiles and Access Control

Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) builds Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals from ISO shipping containers modifications with turnstiles, guard offices, and access control technology. Most of Patented MAC Portals built by MSSI utilize full height, high security turnstiles but occasionally we get the customer request to install half-height or waste-high turnstiles and access control. Pictured here are images of a MAC-5 with half height turnstiles that will be used by Tutor Perini at the Hudson Shipyard in New York. Given the need for access control without the security of full height turnstiles this MAC-5 was custom designed to meet the site specific needs of the site and its users. This Patented MAC-5 has been installed with five half height Alvarado turnstiles and has two guard offices that are 8' x 14' in size. Like all Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals this MAC-5 half-height turnstile unit integrated with access control technology and is ready for use upon delivery. 

For obvious security reasons both full height and half height turnstiles have their own specific place in the realm of perimeter security. Both types of units make sense for different locations based on their site specific needs but both come delivered, "plug and play" ready to be dropped in a fence line and start regulating foot traffic.

Modular Security Systems Inc. (MSSI) has been building custom portable perimeter security solutions since 2004. Since its' inception MSSI has Patented the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal and is in the process of obtaining a patent for the Vehicle Access Control (VAC) Portal. Working directly with our customers to design site specific security solutions that include guard houses, turnstiles, and access control technology MSSI has built a wide range of portable security solutions from ISO shipping containers. Using the latest in container modification techniques MSSI has been able to develop a product line of standard and custom perimeter security modules. MSSI is currently in the process of building a MAC-2 DuoCon with a tandem turnstile, a MAC-4 with two tandem turnstiles, a MAC-6 with three tandem turnstiles, and a 4' x 6' guard office, for a major hospital construction project in Montreal, Canada. The CHUM superhospital, as it's known in Montreal, will be built by a consortium made up of European companies in a public-private partnership and is set to open in 2016. In the early stages of construction MSSI was tasked with providing the perimeter security units mentioned above. As a means to manage workers entry and exit to and from the project these custom Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals and guard houses will be integrated with site specified access control technology for timekeeping and payroll.
