In the past Modular Security Systems, Inc. has been very successful at taking security essentials like access control technologies, full height security turnstiles, and putting them in a box. In doing so MSSI has manufactured a portable, ground level guardhouse that can be delivered to customers around the world in a matter of weeks as compared to traditional stick built security buildings that take months to construct.
Standard Modular Access Control (
) Portals that are typically manufactured out of one ISO shipping container have been very successfull at a lot of major construction sites and military installations around the world. By being portable ground level units that don't require much more than to be dropped in a fence line and hooked up to power the
has been perfect for temporary installations.
A number of customers have also used these portable guard shacks with access control turnstiles as permenant fixtures at high security sites like refineries, power plants and nuclear facilities. More recently a large number of customers have been asking for options to make these modular guardhouses have the look and feel of more permanent buildings that match up to their existing site facade. MSSI has responded with an exterior facade that comes in a wide array of styles, and colors.
These exterior facades are currently being added to the New V-Series product line as well as standard
Portals. For more information on how MSSI can provide your high security site with a portable solution for both temporary and permanent installations contact us via the submission form at the top of the page.

As anyone who has had any experience with the patent application process would tell you it is a worthwhile venture that can bring tremendous benefits to a company with intellectual property. Modular Security Systems, Inc. (MSSI) has patent applications on file and the patent process is underway in the United States. MSSI has already received an official patent for the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal outside of the United States and MSSI is optimistic that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will grant it patents in the near future.
MSSI's patent applications cover a Containerized Access Control System. David Slagel, Co-Owner of MSSI stated, "We want to ensure our customers that the pending patent will not impact our product pricing, product quality, or customer service. We remain committed to being the low cost solution by providing portable containerized turnstile security systems using both full height and half height turnstiles."
The patent applications are not turnstile type specific, meaning the patent applications have claims which cover any type of a barrier device including half-height turnstiles and other types of barrier devices. MSSI has been well pleased with the performance of all makes and models of barrier devices that it has installed thus far in its manufacturing of the MAC Security Portal.
More information on the MAC can be found online at http://www.securedbymac.com/ or contact Kevin Harrison of Steve Shelton toll free at 888-388-7768.

For the fifth year in a row Modular Security Systems Inc. and Boon Edam will be sharing a booth at ISC West in Las Vegas, NV. This year the event will be held March 24-26 at the Sands Convention Center and, as in years past, MSSI will be displaying a Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal at their shared event booth with Boon Edam. Mark Borto, Boon Edam Vice President of Sales and Marketing says "We have enjoyed having Modular Security Systems, Inc. as customers for a number of years and we are very excited that MSSI has put trust in our performance by allowing Boon Edam to become an authorized dealer of their unique product."

At ISC West 2010 MSSI will be exhibiting a two turnstile, MAC-2 finished with the new fiber cement, exterior facade. "We've gone to ISC West for the past few years and we've always taken one of our standard MAC Portals, but this year we are glad we get a chance to display this new feature of the MAC and we think a lot of potential customers will appreciate it", stated Co-President David Slagel. These exterior finishes, which can come in a wide array of colors and archetectural block facades, can be used to match structures currently at a site and to give the MAC a more permanent look and feel.

By introducing the new facades at ISC West MSSI will get the oportunity to reach out to a broader group of clients who may have heard of the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal but were concerned that standard MAC Portals look like a temporary solution. "Although, we have had several customers install standard MAC Portals as permenant access control solutions, we think the new facades will open the doors for a lot more customers to consider MSSI as their permanent solution for onsite access control."

Stop by Booth number 20077 at ISC West (see booth highligted in Red above) to learn more about the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal and the new exterior facades.

In Northern Ohio this week the first of the two NEW V-Series MAC Portals to ship has come together. The portable guardhouse with access control turnstiles shown above is in the final stages of installation. With all three of the units individual MAC modules pulled together this V-Series is ready to be powered up and integrated with access control technologies. This guard shack with turnstiles and access control will be setup to be able to provide reporting and communicate seamlessly with the access control, time-keeping, and security system currently on site.

By providing V-Series customers the option to have a modular unit manufactured off site, shipped in, and assembled on site MSSI has been able to save them significantly on construction, permitting, and engineering costs. For many sites around the U.S. MAC Portals have actually proven to pay for themselves within a short amount of time. Through the use of access control and full-height turnstiles, the MAC Portal and the New V-Series dramatically reduce "theft of time" or "attendance fraud" which according to the American Payroll Association costs companies approximately $491 billion per year.

Pretty soon a fence will be going up and the perimeter security at this site will be finalized in record time. What would've taken a construction company, engineering firm, and architect six months to a year to build has been delivered and will be fully operational within four to six weeks. For more information on the Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal and the New V-Series MAC fill out a form submission here at securedbymac.com and one of our project managers will be in contact with you. Also check back for updates and new pictures as they come in.

The third and final MAC module of this 3 box V-Series (shown above) arrived onsite at a nuclear facility in Northern Ohio earlier this week. Like all Modular Access Control (MAC) Portals the portability of these guardhouses with turnstiles saved the site significantly on construction, engineering, and permitting costs. Once all 3 of the units were delivered they were off loaded and adjoined together to create the V-Series MAC Portal.
Upon coupling the individual modules together the exterior facade of fiber cement panels and the standing seam roof will be installed. Once the unit is put together the electric will be hooked up. The site specified access control technologies in the V-Series MAC Portal can be tied into the sites existing security system or act as a stand alone unit. Depending on the site selected system any number of reports can be accessed using the V-Series MAC Portal to manage time-keeping, tool theft, and onsite security.

The New V-Series MAC Portal is essentially a guardhouse with access control and turnstiles that once delivered to the site can be dropped into a fence-line "plug and play", ready to operate. These units with their exterior facade and climated controlled environment offer a wide range of benefits to any site needing either a temporary or permanent access control security entrance. Over the past week 25 semi trucks made their way in and out of Modular Security Systems Worthington, KY, manufacturing facility. A number of builds are in the final stages of manufacturing and have been prepped to be shipped to customers around the country. The Standard Modular Access Control (MAC) Portal above has 8 full height turnstiles and was shipped to a customer in Toledo, OH where it will be dropped in a fence-line and powered up for immediate access control security.

Wrapping up production on one of the New V-Series MAC Portals with full height turnstiles and access control, Modular Security Systems has been working non-stop to ship out the individual modules that make up these portable guardhouses. After installing the exterior facade and light fixtures the last module of this V-Series MAC Portal is nearly ready to ship. To insure ease of installation once the V-Series has arrived onsite all units are also checked for inventory before being loaded.
After arrival, onsite installation is a breeze and depending on the site and specifications the MAC may only require a 220 single phase hookup to power to be fully operational. The portability and ease of installation make these guardhouses with access control turnstiles the perfect solution for numerous sites both in the US and around the world. As the arctic front moved across the area this week no amount of snow or cold could slow progress on the 40 builds MSSI has underway. Nearly 50 trained container modification specialists continued to work relentlessly on standard MAC Portals, a number of new V-Series MAC Portals, and a 15 container build for one customer in the nuclear industry. The uncommon winter weather that overcame the area provided the perfect back drop to test out some of the newer multi-container custom MAC Portals. These multi-box units and the New V-Series with exterior facades were custom designed for onsite installations that require a climate controlled security gate where employees and visitor can get out of the weather as they make their way through the turnstiles.

For customers in Canada and northern parts of the United States getting visitors and employees out of the weather as they wait to pass through an access control point is a matter of concern throughout much of the year. By providing the new V-Series MAC Portals and other custom multi-Mac Portal turnstile installations MSSI has the perfect solution. The climate controlled nature of these units also allows for any number of biometric access control technologies including hand geometry readers, iris scanning detection devices, metal detection, x-rays, and proximity card readers. Given the numerous options for access control systems customers have been able to upgrade and increase perimeter security by installing these new climate controlled full height turnstile MAC Portals.

By adapting to the needs of its customers and the ever changing world of perimeter security MSSI and the MAC Portal have continued to upgrade and build upon the idea of installing access control and turnstiles in a container. The MAC Portal as a guardhouse with time-keeping and security functions has changed over time and as the needs of its customers evolve so will the MAC.
