Robert Rhett Slagel
Co-Founder and Co-President, Modular Security Systems, Inc. (MSSI)
Robert Slagel co-founded Modular Security Systems, Inc, an innovative engineering intellectual properties holding company, in 2005. Robert is presently serving as Co-President and Co-owner of the corporation. Modular Security Systems, Inc., headquartered in Ironton, Ohio, manufactures from production facilities in Ironton, Ohio and Worthington, Kentucky and has customers and projects throughout the United States, Canada, and much of the rest of the world.
In 2000 Robert founded DropBox, Inc. and remains Co-President of that company today. DropBox, Inc. imports loaded shipping containers into the US from Asia and dispatches those ISO containers from most major US cities. Once unloaded, DropBox, Inc. either sells these containers or converts the containers into useful tools of industry.
In 1999 Robert founded Storage on the Spot, Inc. and remains as Co-President of that company today as well. Storage on the Spot, Inc. rents ISO shipping containers as portable storage units in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
Robert is also the Co-President of, Industrial Sanitation, Inc. DBA “Johnny on the Spot” This company was founded by his grandfather, Robert B. Slagel in 1958 and is one of the first portable restroom rental companies in the nation.
Prior to owning his own business Robert R. Slagel worked for American Electric Power from 1986 – 1992, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency from 1993 – 1994 and the US Army Corps of Engineers from 1995 – 2000.
Robert presently sits on the Board of Directors for the Lawrence County Ohio Port Authority and is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Port Authority for the City of Ironton, Ohio. In 2003 Robert was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ohio Congressman, and now Governor Ted Strickland. In 2004 Robert was awarded the “20 Under 40” title by the Huntington West Virginia Herald Dispatch, which cited 20 people in the Huntington Area that had achieved significant accomplishments prior to their turning 40 years old.
Mr. Slagel holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Geology from Ohio University and a Masters of Engineering Degree from University of Idaho. He is a registered Professional Geologist in Pennsylvania, Indiana and Kentucky.
Robert is active in his community and works closely with the Tri State Construction and Building Trades Council in the area of industrial economic development.
